Students of “Motrat Qiriazi” School Learn About Climate and Sustainable Urban Development

EC Ma Ndryshe carried out an educational presentation at the “Motrat Qiriazi” Lower Secondary School in Prizren, focusing on raising awareness among younger generations about climate change and the impact of urban development. Through an interactive session, the lecture introduced students to environmental concepts and the importance of sustainable urban spaces.

The presentation followed a structured scenario, starting with the fundamental question: “Why are we talking about climate today?” The students were then introduced to the reality of climate change in Kosovo, the ways in which urbanization affects the environment, and the concept of urban impact on everyday life.

A special part of the lecture was dedicated to the connection between climate change and the city of Prizren, highlighting how urban development, spatial planning, and the lack of green spaces can affect temperatures, air quality, and community well-being. The session concluded with the reflection: “What can we do?”, encouraging students to think about concrete individual and collective actions.

At the end of the activity, students took part in a mini-discussion, where each of them wrote and presented their ideas in response to the question: “Which place in Prizren needs more greenery and what would you change?” Through their ideas, they expressed a desire for a greener and healthier city.

This activity was carried out within the framework of the project “Public Spaces 4 All”, implemented by EC Ma Ndryshe, with support from the German Government and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), through GIZ Kosovo.
